Can Green Tea Prevent Certain Eye Diseases?

Many say that green tea offers lots of nutritional benefits to the human body. Its is commonly used as a detox and a cleanser. A new study now suggests that green tea could now lower an individuals risk of glaucoma. In addition to these new findings it also shows signs of improving metabolism and heart health.

These findings were published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Researchers go on to say that a discovery of an antioxidant in the green tea is absorbed by the lens, eye tissue and the retina which could possible prevent visual disease.

Although an indication that the antioxidants, know as catechins, which is found in green tea that are a possible benefit to eye health, the studies were not actually able to tell whether or not the this nutrient passes from the stomach into the eye tissues.

Whatever the findings are, we all know that green tea is not only good for you but if it helps in some way to maintain a healthy body along with healthy eyes at the same time, it can’t be that bad. Go on, give it a try.
