Drivers Recommended For Regular Eye MOTs

drivers recommended to get regular eye checks

Drive, a new campaign being pushed by the Eyecare Trust, is designed to increase awareness in drivers of all ages to make sure that they regularly get their eyes tested and checked to ensure continued safety for themselves and those around them when behind the wheel.

The main motivation is centered around education rather than prosecution, with many drivers simply unaware that a slight deterioration in their eye sight may or could be affecting their driving abilities, ranging from distance judgement to brake response times. With many of today's motorists also relying on their driving ability to work, it is hoped that the campaign will also stimulate business owners and employers to act responsibly and ensure or recommend regular testing of their employees sight and vision.

As with everything else when in comes to increasing age, your eyes are susceptible to change if not deterioration. While not everyone can be put in the same group, many people whose eye sight may have been affected over time, simple measures such as glasses, contact lenses, corrected surgery and other optical options are available to combat such issues and allow patients to continue in their day to day lives as they have been accustomed to, while also protecting their own safety, passengers and the general public.
