DVLA Bid

The DVLA has awarded a bid for a vision testing service to the high street chain giant of Specsavers to much disappintment and comment from industry participants. The advertisement for a cross - sector bid was first promoted in the summer of last year.

Spokespersons from the Optical Federation are today expressing their disappointment over the revelation of the driver test contract news as it was predicted that a LOCSU led optical sector bid was prominently in the running.

The reason behind the bid was to attempt a multi nation  management service within the profession. In total, two thousand practices had advised they would be interested in getting involved in LOCSU's  testing service and off the back of the amount of interest they received they are now pushing for feedback from the DVLA on the bid reasoning.

The DVLA has been afforded a contract standstill period for a further period of time to allow them to comment on LOCSU's grounds for a legal challenge in advance of LOCSU incurring the costs of such  a challenge.
