Federation Of Manufacturing Opticians Unsure Of London Eye Show

Federation Of Manufacturing Opticians

Following news that just a matter of weeks before the 2013 Optrafair another optics show is planned and being readied, the Federation Of Manufacturing Opticians have questioned the timing and necessity of such an event when pitching against what is already considered the premier exhibition in the industry. The plans which have been put forward, with a number of exhibitors from around the globe already claiming to have been booked, is scheduled for 12-14 February 2013 at the ExCel, London.

"The Federation of Manufacturing Opticians (FMO) represents ophthalmic optical companies involved in all aspects of manufacturing, importing and wholesaling spectacles." The federation acts as the optics markets' forum regarding opinions from its members and also those from governmental sectors. The FMO also acts as 'the voice of the optics industry' according to its website. It is also worth noting that the federation is also responsible for managing the Optrafair show, held at the National Exhibition Centre.

Optrafair will take place at the NEC 13-15 April 2013 and is the industry leading optics exhibition for small-large companies.

The decision to host this new show in such close proximity time wise to Optrafair has lead to some confusion about what it has to offer and the benefits of organising such an event at this time. Although the shows organisers have confirmed that numerous clients and businesses have already signed up to the London event, they did stop short of confirming any identities. The FMO are certainly not keen to stress that they should be the only event available, but have not felt from member research that exhibitions in the south and north are warranted at this time, but would certainly explore the possibilities should the call for them increase. At this time, it appears the Eye Show, as it has been named, will press ahead with the event, although they have created a certain mystery about them.
