The College of Optometrists  have reported how up to five million people in the British Isles may have gone up to 10 years since having an eye exam.

The majority of people will be alright but what is important to remember is that  not every eye condition have noticeable symptoms therefore  regular check-ups, unless otherwise advised by your optician, are vital to maintain healthy eyes.

Manufacturer Bausch&Lomb were concerned about students returning to university study, advising that lack of sleep, prolonged computer use and the long hours studying could  well impact on the health of their eyes without regular eye examinations.

Retinal imaging device company Optos  have revealed how its Optomap retinal scan had helped a Northamptonshire optometrist refer a patient found to have a tumour at the back of her eye.

Our eye is the only place where, without surgery, it's possible to look in at detail and see blood vessels, arteries and a cranial nerve,  so it's vital to have recurrent eye exams that include a comprehensive check of the retina.
