* Plenty of cold water fish like cod, mackerel, sardines and tuna, as these are good sources of DHA, which help provide structural support to cell membranes and is particularly recommended for dry eyes. DHA is also a treatment for macular degeneration.

* Leafy vegetables are rich in carotenoids, especially lutein and zeaxanthin like kale and spinach. Lutein, protects the macula from sun damage and from blue light. Zeaxanthin is one of the two primary xanthophyll carotenoids contained within our retinas.

* Eggs are  rich in sulphur, lecithin, amino acids, cysteine and lutein. Sulpher compounds will protect the lens of the eye from cataract formation.

Garlic, onions, shallots and capers are also rich in sulphur.

*  All vegetables and fruits contain vitamin A, C, and E and Beta-carotene.

*  Blueberries, blackberries, and dark cherries are found to be high in flavonoids and contain anthocyanins which assist our night vision.

* You may be pleased to hear of this one..wine! Wine has important  antioxidants and nutrients which help protect vision, plus our heart and blood flow. Moderation is still important remember.

* Nature's most concentrated food sources are nuts and berries. Grains,  eg. flaxseed, are high in  Omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower  our cholesterol and stabilize cell membranes.

* Swop to a virgin olive oil  as it is a mono-unsaturated oil and a healthy alternative to butter substitutes which contain soy, corn or canola.
