While the annual countdown to the holidays begin and the planning starts for presents, food and accommodating guest's we are reminded of those less fortunate than ourselves and the hardships that thousands of people have to endure because of circumstances less fortunate than our own.
For a group of volunteer eye care specialists known more affectionately as The Crisis at Christmas Team the holidays are an opportunity to join fellow optometrists and dispensing opticians in the City of London that for the past three years, have helped to provide clinical care in various sites for the homeless residents of our nations capital.
The scheme is supported by Vision Care for Homeless People who have assisted up to two hundred and fifty people every year with a week long accessible service that aims to prevent unnecessary handicap for homeless people that may be in need of eye care.
This year the clinics will run from 23rd to 29 December and opticians and service providers are invited to take part and provide some time to deliver the care that is so needed.
