Heston Swaps Cooking For Designer Eyewear Role

Well, not exactly. It is however true that the famous chef Heston Blumenthal has lent his eye to a new range of glasses to be sold by the optical giant, Vision Express. Armed with his celebrity status and quite recognisable eyewear style, Mr Blumenthal has launched the range in conjunction with Inspecs to the UK market at a red carpet event in Oxford Street, London.

Along with Heston's distinctive look when it comes to his choice of eyewear, the chef has taken inspiration from the most obvious of sources when it comes to vision... the kitchen. No we won't see a selection of milk bottle lenses, asparagus infused stems or frames made from the worlds sturdiest spaghetti. In line with a desire for sleek, modern and comtemporary styling, metal and acetate frames will offer the look Inspecs believe high street shoppers are looking for. With increasing competition in the market, and an economy with tightened purse strings, consumers, say Vision Express, are looking for that something different, of the highest quality, but also importantly offering excellent value for money.

Mr Blumenthals attention to detail during the design and manufacturing of the frames was something that bosses hoped would be recognised by those looking for new or replacement eyewear products and Inspecs were impressed by the level of interaction the chef had during this process insisting that this was not just a marketing exercise of putting a famous face to a brand they wished to sell. Heston himself also commented his surprise by the experience, and how such little margins in manufacturing made such big differences to not only quality but appearance.
