Olivia's Vision Charity Raising Awareness Of Uveitis

uveitis symptoms

Olivia's Vision, a UK based charity, has been set up following a young girl, Olivia Davis' loss of sight in one eye and has since been registered legally blind having had the rare eye disease uveitis.

Uveitis is a disease that affects the eye, causing an inflammation of the uvea. It is a disease which can lead to blindness in the eye and is believed to account for around 10% of the number of loss of sight cases in the US. Regular symptoms include redness of the eye, blurred or impaired vision, light sensitivity and eye pain. Once diagnosed, the condition requires immediate referral and examination by an ophthalmologist and the result treatment to bring the inflammation under control.

The charity, along with the AOP's Back To School campaign are trying to raise awareness of the disease and other eye and vision complaints in an attempt to get more children receiving regular eye test and examinations at their opticians in the hope that incidents like these can be caught at an early stage in future and treated accordingly.
