Careers in optometry and the eye care industry have been so sought after in the past 12 months that some universities are reporting that applicants have out weighed accepted students as many as 8 to 1 in some cases with many putting the surge in increased demand down to the proposed hikes in admissions fees for 2012. One such university making new inroads into the optometry teaching sector has been in Plymouth. With many opportunities to begin in practice, the South West offers a great start for students who are having to keep these financial increases in mind, with Plymouth's decision to open their doors seemingly even more beneficial to the region.
Demand for courses has been heightened in all areas and teaching sectors across the country this year with capacity hit at a large number of universities. As a health care profession, optometry has proved very popular with the masses, with students seemingly eager to begin a future working with patients with vision problems and continued eye care conditions.
