Primary Care Trust Approves Mobile Eye Bus Scheme

dorset pct approves mobile eye care bus

After many months of discussions, the primary care trust in charge of Dorset have announced with pride the launch of a local mobile eye care bus for the local community following a successful application from a local optometrist, Jane Fisher. The brand new service is expected to be a pioneer in this field with other similar facilities and services popping up around the UK in the future.

Dubbed 'The Eye Bus' with bus number 001, Jane Fisher's mobile project is hoped to bring an increased level of convenience to the local community, with massive benefits for the elderly and disabled in particular, for whom getting to the local opticians isn't quite as straight forward as it may be to others. With the NHS contract now in place, this project will now allow for free sight tests to continue as they have been, with the PCT reimbursing Jane, the mobile optometrist. However, this isn't a new venture. Fisher has been providing this service for many months now, with her local community patients delighted with the level of service afforded them. Unfortunately, all this hard work was due to come to an end as Jane was not receiving funding for this innovation. With time ticking away before the bus had to wave away any new passengers and patients, this agreement has saved a service highly thought of in the local area.

Following a string of tests, checks and conditions, this mobile eye care service is now on the road for good, with set bus routes around the North and West of Dorset. It is now hoped that people who would normally refrain from visiting their opticians or going for regular checks ups simply due to a lack of convenience or mobility, will now be able to receive the care and treatment that they need.
