Norlase® ECHO® - Multispot Pattern Laser

Now with Pattern Microsecond Laser Trabeculoplasty (PMLT)
Advancing Glaucoma Treatment

ECHO is a compact, fully integrated pattern-scanning photocoagulator that mounts directly onto most common slit lamps. Its fibreless design, advanced MEMS technology, and intuitive wireless interface make pattern laser treatments simpler, faster, and more accessible for both retina and glaucoma care.

Further Information

Key Features:

  • FIBRELESS, ULTRA-COMPACT DESIGN
The integrated build eliminates fragile external fibre cables — the primary cause of traditional laser system downtime. This means fewer service interruptions and lower lifetime maintenance costs.
  • ADVANCED MEMS TECHNOLOGY (FOR PMLT & RETINA TREATMENTS)
ECHO’s MEMS engine powers both conventional pattern photocoagulation and the new Pattern Microsecond Laser Trabeculoplasty (PMLT). PMLT uses MEMS-precision pattern delivery plus an indexing gonio lens to automatically align each treatment segment on the trabecular meshwork, ensuring complete coverage and preventing overlap.
  • FULL PATTERN PALETTE
Choose from multiple pattern configurations — including grids, circles, and triple arcs — with exact, repeatable spot placement.
  • WIRELESS CONTROL & VOICE COMMANDS
ECHO is operated via a sleek wireless tablet. An industry-first voice-control system lets clinicians adjust pattern type and laser parameters hands-free, maintaining full visual focus on the patient.
  • HIGH-CLARITY SAFETY FILTERS
Proprietary coatings provide exceptionally clear optical filters, delivering accurate colour transmission during treatment for enhanced visibility at the slit lamp.
  • µSEC (MICROSECOND) TREATMENT MODE
Sub-threshold, tissue-sparing microsecond pulsing minimises thermal damage — ideal for retinal therapy and essential for the mechanism of action behind MLT/PMLT.
  • PORTABLE & SLIT-LAMP MOUNTED
Easily mounts to a wide range of compatible slit lamps, allowing laser treatment to be delivered exactly where clinicians already work.
  • Introducing PMLT: Pattern Microsecond Laser Trabeculoplasty
    Advancing Glaucoma Treatment
PMLT is the next evolution of microsecond laser trabeculoplasty, delivering:
    • Automated, pattern-based placement using MEMS technology
    • 128 precisely aligned spots over 360°, delivered in 32 segments via the Latina 1× Indexing PSLT lens (11.25° per click)
    • No tissue damage, no bubbles or blanching, and reduced risk of pressure spikes versus SLT
    • Consistent, repeatable coverage even when the trabecular meshwork anatomy varies
    • Faster procedure time thanks to semi-automated pattern rotation and alignment
  • When to Use PMLT
    PMLT is suitable for:
    • Medical treatment failure (IOP too high despite drops)
    • Drop intolerance or poor access
    • Poor compliance
    • To delay more invasive surgery
    • As a first-line option for newly diagnosed patients when adherence is a concern
  • Clinical Insights & Early Experience
Initial cases performed in 2025 report faster visualisation, swift procedure times, and sub-visible endpoints.
  • Mechanism of Action (MLT/PMLT)
PMLT delivers short “on” pulses followed by cooling “off” periods, avoiding thermal buildup and preventing tissue damage. This stimulates a cellular stress response, promoting extracellular matrix remodelling and improving aqueous outflow.
