Following recent changes to the NHS Primary Care Commissioning Contract Compliance Framework, an updated version of the QiO toolkit has been released to reflect these amendments. The latest update to the Quality In Optometry document is expected to increase the numbers of accounts with QiO from it's current standing of 1,400 member practitioners.

Quality in Optometry, "a toolkit for clinical governance in optometric practice" offers practitioners documented details on the model expected for clinical governance in England and also in Wales. The resource offers invaluable information for contractors seeking to ensure that they comply with their General Ophthalmic Services contracts. As well as being usable by contractors, the revised and updated toolkit provides an excellent new checklist for practitioners to check they have the required knowledge to fulfill the GOS requirements. It also enables practitioners to demonstrate their acquired knowledge easily to employers.

One of the original funders of the Quality In Optometry Toolkit, the Local Optical Committee Support Unit, has praised the newly updated resource and has stated its pride in being able to contribute and help towards it. The LOCSU described the update as, "an easy to use resource,' helping perfomers and contractors alike to comply with General Ophthalmic Services contracts, "saving time and money in the long run."
