Myth: Safety goggles really are just more trouble than they are worth.
Fact: In the USA there are 500,000 eye injuries a year with 50% of those happening in the home. 90% of these injuries are actually avoidable if eye protection is worn.

Myth: Eating carrots improves your vision.
Fact: Although carrots contain vitamin A and is important in a balanced diet, they do not help your vision. In fact, digesting large amounts of vitamin A can be harmful.

Myth: You can transplant eyes.
Fact: Doctors can transplant the cornea but not the actual eye. The retina as well as the optic nerve form part of the brain so until brain transplants are conquered, eye transplants just can’t be done.

Myth: Reading in a dimmed light damages your eyes.
Fact: This can make your eyes become extremely tired but it will not cause any damage.

Myth: Eye exercises improve your vision.
Fact: This myth has made many people wealthy! Quite what exercises the eye can do is another question, but for all intents and purposes, lets say that exercising involves repeatedly rolling them. Exercising your eyes will not improve your vision in the slightest.

Myth: Sitting close to the TV damages your eye.
Fact: There is no evidence to prove this myth at all. If this were the case, office workers that sit at computer screens 8 hours a day would be blind!
